Model Boat Show

Tickets are available at the Woods Hole Historical Museum and at Community Hall on the days of the event. Cost: $12 Adults, $5 Children over 6, Family $25
Parking is available in the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution lots in Woods Hole.
Over 150 models, both static and radio-controlled, will be on exhibit throughout the village. They will include examples from simple toy models to exquisitely detailed and crafted works of art. Viewers will find copies of modern boats and of famous historical ships, sporting boats, and workboats.
Saturday:
- American Model Yachting Association puts on R/C Model Sailboat Races on Eel Pond. (Sailboats under 40 inches: 10 AM to Noon. Over 40 inches 12:30 to 3:30 PM)
- Earl Boebert will speak about the history of the racing J-Class yacht, and his building of the model of the America's Cup contender Yankee. 3:15 PM at the Woods Hole Library, lower level
- Jane Peterson of Peterson Images will speak about photographing model boats (see photo below). 4:15 PM at the Woods Hole Library, lower level.
- Maritime appraiser will be available to appraise visitors items for a small donation.
- Woods Hole Aquarium and Nobska Lighthouse will be open to the public.
- Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Exhibit Center open from 10:00 to 4:30.
- Marine Biological Laboratories Gift Shop and Exhibit Center open from 10:00 to 2:00.
Sunday:
- Informal Model Boat races on Eel Pond.
- Dr. Dana Yoerger of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution will tell us "Stories of Oceanographic Models in the Deap Sea." 12:30 PM in the Woods Hole Library, lower level.
- Raffle of a Ready to Run R/C Sailboat
All Weekend:
- Workshops
- Demonstrations
- Talks
- Watch artisans create ships in bottles.
Especially for Kids
- Build, paint and sail (in a fresh water pool) model Spritsail or Bermuda from a kit ($10).
- Play with motorized boats (fresh water pool).
- Attend creative drama workshop based on a book about a boat.
